The tampered stopwatch
Difficulty level: Medium
Shortly before an in-house HYROX competition, someone tampered with the gym’s official stopwatch and changed the time limit for the race. Nobody had left the building yet, and everything suggested they were trying to help another competitor.
Who tampered with the stopwatch, which object incriminates them and who was it meant to benefit?
Your mission
Work out where each person and each object was.
- Each position is occupied by one person and may contain at most one of the three objects.
- The person responsible was in position 5.
- The object in position 5 is the one that incriminates them.
- The person they were trying to help was in position 7.
People and objects
People: Andrea, Cristina, Germán, Irene, José, Manu, Óscar, Raquel, Susana.
Objects: Stopwatch, Wristband, Access card.
Clues
- Germán and José are in opposite corners.
- Irene is between Germán and Andrea.
- Óscar is immediately south of Germán.
- Manu is in the same column as Irene, and Cristina is immediately east of Manu.

How to read the clues
- Near: any of the 8 adjacent squares, including diagonals. Sharing a position does not count as being near.
- Between: in the same row, column or diagonal, with exactly one square in between.
- Immediately north / south / east / west: the immediately adjacent square in that direction.
- Same row / same column: both positions belong to the same row or to the same column.
- Opposite corners: the pairs 1 ↔ 9 and 3 ↔ 7.
