Last night, nine guests stayed on one floor of the Hotel Mirador. This morning, one of them was found lifeless.

Who murdered whom, and with which object?

Your mission

Place the nine people and the three objects in their rooms by following the clues.

• Each room is occupied by one person and may contain at most one of the three objects.
• The person responsible was staying in room 5.
• The object in room 5 is the weapon that incriminates the person responsible.
• The victim was staying in room 9.

People and objects

People: Alicia, Bruno, Carmen, Diego, Elena, Félix, Gloria, Hugo, Irene.

Objects: Vase, Lamp, Hammer.

Clues

1. Alicia is in a corner.
2. The Vase is immediately east of Alicia, and Bruno is immediately south of the Vase.
3. The Lamp is near Bruno, but not in his room.
4. Carmen is immediately east of the Lamp.
5. Elena is between Diego and Carmen.
6. Félix is immediately east of Bruno.
7. Gloria is immediately west of Hugo.
8. Irene and Hugo are near the Hammer, but it is not in either of their rooms.

How to read the clues

• Near / next to: any of the 8 adjacent squares, including diagonals.
• Between: in the same row, column or diagonal, with exactly one square in between.
• North, south, east, west, north-east, north-west, south-east and south-west: always the immediately adjacent square in that direction.
• Corner: positions 1, 3, 7 or 9.
• Opposite corners: the pairs 1 ↔ 9 and 3 ↔ 7.
